This beautiful ancient Roman coin is well centered, nicely struck and has very fine details. This coin features the portrait of Roman emperor Severus Alexander, the last emperor of the Severan dynasty, which began with emperor Septimius Severus in A.D. 193.  Severus Alexander was proclaimed emperor after the assassination of his cousin Elagabalus, and was assassinated himself in A.D. 238. His death marked the beginning of a period of civil war, which lasted nearly half a century.

The coin is mounted in high quality hand-made solid 14kt solid yellow gold twisted wire design pendant with a genuine cabachon ruby The pendant measures 1 1/2" tall x 7/8" wide. The total weight is 6.3 grams.
